Lyn says, ‘The time for denying climate change is long gone yet still we burn fossil fuels. Now we roll the dice, dreading which climate catastrophe will come next – extinctions, floods, fire, sea-level rise, drought, heatwaves, cyclones or coral bleaching. It is not a two-dimensional problem.
‘Wherever I go to paint, I am struck by the devastating impact we have had on the country and the plants and animals who share our planet. My work is permeated by the sadness I feel about what has been lost and what is yet to come.’
This artwork consists of 5 wooden blocks, each measuring 7 cm x 7 cm x 7 cm, with a different image related to climate change painted on each of the 30 surfaces.
Burn More Coal, Roll the Dice was named a finalist in the 2024 Lethbridge 20000 Small Scale Art Award and exhibited at the Lethbridge Gallery in Paddington.
